Learning Hebrew – The letter Mem (עִבְרִית)
Mem מ is the thirteenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet. It is also the second of the five final letters that when at the end of a Hebrew word are depicted differently. The mem is the thirteenth letter of the alef-beit. It has the sound of “m” as in “mom.” The pictograph for Mem looks like a wave of water, whereas the classical Hebrew script (Ketav Ashurit) is constructed of a Kaf (20) with a Vav (6) beside it.
